A Day of Fishing

This is Phillip, the youngest of my friend Linda's three. He is 5 and quite a fisherman. He caught a good majority of the fish. He kept saying, "We hit the hot spot! We hit the hot spot!"

Sarah is in love with fishing. Whether it's to spend time with Daddy or just because she loves it, she can't get enough. She was thrilled to have her classmate, Patrick, aboard. I had to laugh because the boys were tired and ready to come in and she was like, WHAT? We still have bait! We're not done till the bait is gone! Daddy's girl, all right.

This is Patrick, he's 8 and in third grade with Sarah. He is Linda's middle child, Kira (10) the oldest did not go, she hates fishing! Patrick was very excited about the number of fish we caught, as he says when he goes with his dad, Doug, they usually don't catch anything at all. He kept saying, I've got to tell my dad about this! And when we got back to their house, he said, "And Dad, this was just an "OK" day for Mr. Shawn!" I'm sure Doug loved hearing that! He, as always, took it very well, and was super-excited for them and their big catch. He helped me clean it on their granite countertops! Poor Linda, she sat at the bar with her back turned to me, she couldn't even look at me "hurting" those fish. I told her, chickens have it way worse than this. She didn't really get over it. Anyway, Patrick caught the "catch-of-the-day", a 25-30 lb stingray, which put up quite a fight for him! It was really great to watch him handle the pole and bring that puppy in. Well, not in. We weren't about to bring it in. Shawn unhooked it overboard.

Here are the big fishermen with their catch, 35 fish! Mostly silver trout and a few whiting, including Momma's big whiting she caught right off the bat! There is no size limit on either of those fish but if they were too small for Momma to clean, overboard they went! It was a beautiful day on the water and we had a great time!
