Pelicans Past and Present

Izzy would like to share this photo with everyone, as it is not every day one has pelican on their head. Unless you work at Shrimp Landing in which case it is not only possible, but you are likely to bear a pelican beak scar on your right hand from throwing backbones into the canal. You have the gut bucket at the dock, swinging (and definitely not taunting:) ) large backbones to watch their head bob up and down. Suddenly, from the roof above and behind you, a large and rather starving pelican swoops down and your right fist goes directly down his goozle. As you jerk your hand back in horror, his pointed beak rips a small gash on the top of your hand, forever branding you as a Shrimp Landing employee. Ugh, the horrors. Obviously, if a small bath toy can bring back such vivid memories, I must have more severe problems than anyone previously thought!
